Overview
A scale-up serving consumers, merchants, and employers had grown fast — but its products hadn't grown together. Inconsistent experiences, fragmented processes, and no shared design language were showing up in the product and slowing the team down.
I led a team of designers across the full product ecosystem, working closely with product, engineering, and research to audit the consumer app, establish a cross-platform design system, and restructure how design operated — building a foundation scaled for what came next.
Analysis
The first move was a comprehensive audit of the consumer app. Pain points were mapped, patterns documented, and gaps surfaced through research, user analysis, and information architecture review. Design decisions that followed weren't made on instinct — they were made on evidence.
Foundation
A cross-platform design system was established to unify the product ecosystem across web and mobile, giving all three products a shared visual and functional language for the first time. Information architecture was restructured in parallel, ensuring the redesigned consumer app was logically sound — built around how users actually move through a product.
Redesign
With the foundations in place, the consumer app was redesigned end-to-end, with new features introduced as a natural extension of a system built to accommodate growth. Not a reskin — a rethink.
Design Ops
Leading a team of 6 designers and 1 researcher across 5 domains, the challenge was as organizational as it was creative. DesignOps was treated as infrastructure: workflows standardized, handoffs tightened, and a shared way of working established that let the team move independently without drifting apart.
The design system wasn't just a product artifact — it was a team alignment tool. This is what the work was really about: building a team and a system that could scale beyond any single project.
